Get Faraday

I was asked by Faraday to create this fast paced feature reel to showcase their online platform as well as tools for creating surveys and product testing. Matt and Josh at Faraday were amazing to work with and provided clear instructions and alot of creative freedom.

The process

Matt and Josh provided very clear instructions and reference animations that described what they wanted. I felt confident enough in this case to skip the storyboard phase and jump straight in to designing the key frames for the film. The fist round of design pretty much hit home with just a few minor tweaks for version 2. At this stage i also sent over a couple of music tracks for consideration since we wantedthe animation to be very in sync to the music.

These are version 1 of the designed frames.

Version 02

For version 02 Matt and Josh were really happy with the result, but wanted to change some of the colours that were a mismatch and adjust the way their tools and usability were portrayed in the animation. They also wanted the line to continue through to the end and end i a reveal of their logo. We also locked down the music that would be used in the animation.

These are the final revised designs.

Animation

When the design was finalised and approved by the good folks over at Faraday I was ready to jump in to After Effects and start animating. As you can see, the fist version was pretty close to the designed frames and not far away at all from the final film. This version was abaout 90% done as i waited with some of the more detailed animations for the final version.

With clear communication and regular check ups along the way you make sure everyone is happy with the end result.
